An Object in Earth's Orbit
On 26 January 1999, Channel 13 on Chilean television aired a series of images captured by the geostationary satellite GOES-8. The first set had been recorded years earlier, on 17 July 1992, by a Chilean aerial photometry service. In it you can make out an object in orbit over the coast of Chile, its approximate dimensions some 400 kilometers across.

A second set, captured by the same kind of satellite on 17 April 1996, shows an identical object in orbit over the Atlantic, just off the coast of Brazil. These were recorded by the Regional Meteorological Center of Antofagasta, Chile.

Some say the GOES satellite simply caught the Moon “rising” over the curve of the Earth. But from this angle, that is very hard to believe.
